Asleep at the wheel

This morning Brad went out to mow the yard and he promised Dane that when he got to the back yard, he could ride along. Dane loves to ride the mower, however today he must have been alittle tired cause he fell asleep about a 1/2 hour later. Brad flagged me down so I could get these pics.

So precious! I love pictures of sleeping children, it really seems to show
how pure and innocent they are.

Veggie Garden II

My plants are doing surprisingly well. Here's my garlic 2 wks ago.

Here's one garlic plant today. I'm assuming a bug ate it off at the ground. Not cool. I was going to try and do this gardening organically, but I can't have bugs eating all my plants. I may have to break down and spray some insecticide.

Green Beans

Sugar Snap Peas

Zucchini Squash
All these pic were taken about 2 weeks ago so they are probably almost twice the size now, with the exception of the one garlic plant. Also doing well, but not shown are, Romaine lettuce, green onions, carrots and tomatoes.

Memorial Day

The tradition continues. Today for Memorial Day we headed down to Zanesfield for the Logan Hills Festival and Parade. Dane had a good time watching the Ben Logan band playing and seeing the horses walk through.

Dane and Grandpa Peterson

A BIG thank you to grandma and grandpa Peterson for getting Dane this sandbox. After Dane woke from his nap today we went outside to play. I'm thinking this will help him stay busy while I water the flowers/garden this summer. Isn't it cute, it looks like a sand castle!

He wasn't too sure about it at first. He didn't like putting his feet in the sand and getting them dirty, but I'm thinking he'll get over that.

The sandbox also has four seats on each corner and for now he prefers to sit there or outside of it and dig in that way.

African Safari

On Saturday we decided to take family trip to Port Clinton and visit the African Safari Trails. With a zoo membership we got half off admission so it was a bargain too.

They give you a bucket of feed and instructions on how to feed the animals
The animals are roaming free and you drive right through herds of them. Dane was scared at first, cause the animals would push their entire heads into the car window and Brad was freaking out cause they were smearing goo and slobber all over the side of the car.

Holy cow!!! They had 5 or so of these long horns and I was so nervous as we drove past, it appeared several times those horns we going to rack the side of other peoples cars. We tended to drive around them and not get too close.

We had a really fun day. After the Safari Trails we headed to downtown Port Clinton where they were having the Walleye Festival. So we walked down by the water and through the festival.

At the festival there was a man dressed as a bronze statue. He would walk and change poses very slowly. It was pretty funny, he really freaked out some of the children there.

Wanted: Mechanic

Brad was out working on the Honda and I was watering flowers/veggies. Dane decided dad needed some help and I couldn't resist taking these pics. These made me envision the future when Dane turns sixteen and him and his dad are working on his car.

Bread Bandit

There have been times where I've had to take my eyes off of Dane so that I can get some things around the house done and I've found him sitting in the corner eating a hotdog bun.
Today, I was doing the dishes and turned to notice Dane had gotten into the bread bin and was walking around eating two slices of whole wheat bread. I wasn't too concerned, at least it was good for him, and I turned to finish the dishes.

When I'd finished up, Here's what Dane had done

I thought this was pretty funny. Don't you wonder what he's thinking?

Chicks

For the last 6 months or so Brad and I had been talking about raising some chickens so we could have the fresh eggs. Eggs from the store just don't taste as good and some of the nutrients are probably gone too. Am I totally crazy, I don't have time for something else to take care off!!! Luckily, My sister and her family decided to get some. No work for me and hopefully they send some fresh eggs our way! Dane loves the baby chicks

Say What?

Last night after Dane ate his dinner I decided to let him eat a pudding cup by himself. He was covered in pudding and so excited that he started to ramble on. Anybody have a clue what he's talking about here?

The end of this clip cracks me up, after he put his hand in the pudding cup, he did exactly what he knew I would do..........shake my head.

Veggie Garden

Started planting some veggies today. Brad fenced off a section for me a couple days ago and I've been working on tilling up the dirt. I didn't work anything into the soil so hopefully our dirt is good enough. Today I planted garlic, green onions, romaine lettuce, carrots and sugar snap peas.
