Funny Things My Son Has Said

This is one of our favorite photos taken from our shoot with Everyday Studios

Look at his happy laughing face! Which is why I chose it for today's blog post cause he's just really been cracking us up lately.

Here's a few of the Funny Things My Son Has Said Lately:

  • While I was puking in the toliet one morning last week Dane runs in yelling "MOMMY, DON'T COUGH UP THE BABY, DON'T COUGH UP THE BABY!" He was so serious too and it's really hard to be sick and laugh at the same time.

  • Pulling out of a Tim Horton's parking lot after a really yummy breakfast Brad and I over hear Dane in the backseat saying to himself....."I just really feel like I need to say a bad word right now" Now mind you, the only bad words Dane knows are God (using it in vain) and Butthead.

  • While having a discussion in the kitchen about whether the new baby will be a boy or girl. Brad says "If' it's a boy like me and you, there will be 3 boys and mommy along with Zoey and Kitty will be the only girls in the house." Dane replies by bending over with his hands on his knees and says laughing "Your really freaking me out here!"

and 1 last one to today's post

  • Dane woke up from a nap when I was almost finished watching a documentry called 'The Business of Being Born' The last 10 minutes are devoted to breast feeding mostly. Dane says "Mom, Why is that baby sucking on her boob?!" I quickly explained. Then he replies......." Can I suck on your boob?!" I can see I'm going to have a VERY interested 3rd party while breastfeeding this 2nd baby.

The Clan

Minus Baby Zeke. Poor kid was tired and needed to nap.

I took Dane to the Dr. this morning. He's just never recovered from that cold I previously mentioned and then last night he complained of his ears hurting. He just cried and cried for hours yesterday. Dr. gave us a prescription for Amoxicillin. He should be feeling better in a day or two.

Brad's side of the family received some not so good news on Christmas. Grandma Burrey was taken to the hospital. Surgery was today to remove a tumor in her colon and during that more spots were seen scattered about. Please keep her and the family in your prayers.

Holiday Eye Candy

Look at these cutie-patooties I get to look at this holiday season!

Lucky Me :)
Matching sweaters courtesy of The Peterson's. Too cute.
As if they don't look enough alike as it is.

Dane is sick. Poor boy. Started as a 2 day low grade fever with alittle bit of a snotty nose. The fever moved on and left behind ALOT of snot and a TERRIBLE cough. Poor kid can't stop coughing. I was woke up last night by a coughing kid at my bedside who then proceeded to vomit on my arm and bed! He's just coughing so hard he can't help it. Brad was puked on today after lunch. Yuck. I sure hope he's better for Christmas.

Pretty as a Picture

My sister had me over to take some family photos last weekend. This one is my favorite. They are so cute, just love them to pieces.

Preggo Update: Movement detected! Just alittle. Nothing Brad can feel yet, but I can feel it from the inside when he lays his hand on the bump.

Cozy PJ's

A birthday gift from Momo & Papa Peterson. Dane loves his "hunter" pajamas! As a matter of fact he's worn them 2x in the last 4 days. I can't get them out of the dryer fast enough.

Preggo Update: 17weeks and counting. Nausea is much better throughout the day and evenings. Mornings are still a little touchy but MUCH BETTER than previous.

Clothing is starting to get pretty snug around the middle. Hoping it's starting to look more like a baby bump and me less like a fat girl. Strangely, I only gained 1lb at my last appointment. Doesn't seem right, but I'll take it.

Ultrasound scheduled for Jan 3rd. I'll be exactly 20 weeks at that point. I was a little disappointed, I was hoping to know for Christmas.

Cupcakes

A bug themed birthday party.

Thanks goes out to my sister Randi for the help. It took us over 2 hours and buckets full of laughter to complete these masterpieces. Thanks to Brad for taking Dane and getting him out of the house for a couple hours so this could be done.
We had a great party, thanks everyone for attending.

Happy Birthday Baby!

From this.....

To this...... in 3 short years!

I took today off work. I had the vacation day to burn and this way I can spend the day with Dane and have alittle fun:) Plus, We need to get this house in shape for the birthday party tomorrow!

Here he is in the cop uniform that Uncle Jim gave him for his birthday. He's practicing his mean face to scare away the bad guys! Are you scared yet?!

I've spent the morning attempting to upload a video of Dane opening his present from Brad and I with no success. Grrrr. I don't have the time to work on it anymore right now, so I'll try again later.

Hmmm, What am I up to?

Can you guess?

It's Dane's 3rd birthday cupcakes!
What crazy hairbrained idea have I got? You'll have to tune back in on Sunday to check it out!

A Country Christmas

A couple weeks ago Dane and I went down to the Zanesfield Turkey Raffle. We didn't win a turkey but we did win the door prize which was a family pass to Marmon Valley Farm and A Country Christmas.

We'd never done this before. Marmon Valley is all set up with lights, a wagon ride, pony rides, cookies/crafts, a petting zoo, and Christmas tree's for sale.

The pony was a definite hit!

All cozied up in the hay for the wagon ride.

The wagon ride takes you all over the farm stopping in different locations to see scenes from the bible and the birth of baby jesus. Dane loved this and was so quiet watching the mini plays.

The petting zoo. A bit of a let down, only had bunnies (seen below), ducks, chickens, and ponies.

All bundled up with my baby!

Finally, It's here!

For those of you who read this blog on the regular, you know I received this old channel back chair back in July.

Then you'll also know that not soon after I fell in love with this Robert Allen for Dwell Studio print called Gate.

The fabric was not available to the general public till today......I've been checking almost daily since July!!! It's now up for sale on the Dwell Studio website and it's actually affordable! I want it SO BAD! Why'd it have to wait till now to come up for sale, when my husband is jobless and I'm such a tightwad or let's use the word frugal, that sounds better.

I had it in the shopping cart and everything but stopped myself or rather Brad guilted me alittle, but he's probably right.

But while I'm still dreaming...... I really like this fabric too and had a yard of it in the cart so I could make a couple throw pillows for the couch and or chair.

Well, enough of that. Gotta put it behind me for now. We're in self preservation mode around here till spring and the money starts rolling back in. OR I just had a brillant idea, Maybe my work Christmas bonus!?!

Flurries

December 1st and it snows. It actually is pretty to look at from the windows of my toasty warm house but I have to go to work in a few hours and not looking forward to it. Brrrrrr.

Here's a photo of storytime with Mariana that I took a few months ago. The book was a spooky mickey mouse halloween book, I love the furrowed brow and look of concern on Dane's face. Funny.

Sending out birthday invites today for Dane's party next weekend. I can't believe he's gonna be 3 already, time flys. He's been talking about his birthday for months. It's totally adorable to hear him tell people his birthday is December 10th.

Preggo Update: Something about getting up at 5am makes me puke. Is it cause I'm still tired? or cause I'm getting ready for work and don't have time to just sit for a few minutes and eat something slowly? The days I get to sleep in alittle, I'm fine. I rise slowly, head downstairs and lay around on the couch for awhile while I slowly munch on something. I have been feeling better throughout the day though which helps a ton!

Just a few more weeks and we'll get to find out the sex of this bun in the oven! Really excited, but I think I already know the result. We'll see. It should be around Christmas time, what a fun present!

The Good, Bad and Ugly

Our trip to Indianapolis overall was a success. We arrived Friday in time to have dinner and walk around a bit before the main event......The Lighting of The Tree. It's 1 1/2 hour long televised program which includes all local talent singing Christmas Carols. At the end Santa rides in and lights the tree.

Dane is pretty much a breeze to travel with. He adapts really well to new situations and enjoys getting to see/do new things. See the excitement on his face in the picture above? He's totally pumped up to see Santa!

The next morning after breakfast we headed to The Children's Museum (which was HUGE, we spent 4 1/2 hours there) Here we are in "Egypt" with Dane driving Brad and Tim around in the Nuk Nuk.

Also in Egypt where Tim talked us into participating in a play to help welcome an Egyptian baby into the world. Very comical but also educational. Here's Tim and Brenda in traditional Egyptian clothing. Ha!

Dane and The Race Car

Always a hit, The Carousel!

And here's the BAD and UGLY!! Packed up and getting ready to head home today, we arrived at our car in the parking garage to see that someone had vandalized our car over night! I took some pictures right off for insurance purposes. This one isn't that close but I wanted to show the parking level and the 2 beer bottles left by our car. What assholes! Seriously!

It looked like there might have been a scuffle between a few people or someone rode up the side of the car with a skate board or something.! Black hand and foot prints are scattered along side the car along with scratches, the mirror was folded in and a HUGE dent behind the door!
We did have a good time though. Trying not to worry about it, nothing we can do about it now. I'm just handing it over to Brad and letting insurance take care of it. That's what we pay it for I guess.

On another note: 15 weeks pregnant now and really starting to chunk up around the middle. I didn't look like this till I was 6 months pregnant last time. I didn't even really wear maternity clothes with Dane, but I'm already starting to consider it this time! I had a good weekend, only nauseous a few times and didn't puke once :) Really hoping it's starting to subside. We'll see.

Things to be Thankful For

Tears rolled down my cheeks last night as I lie in bed next to my husband. Something made me think of a patient of mine who past away a couple weeks ago due to Malignant Melanoma that had metastasized. He was a really nice man with alot of hope he was going to make it through. I believe we meet certain people at certain time to teach us something. This man put things in prospective for me......How easily his situation could have been my husbands. I'm thankful for the patients I get to meet and the husband that I get to keep!

Also, Not to be forgotten. I'm thankful for my big, crazy- fun family. The one I was born into and the one I married into. Could not be any luckier. Just couldn't.

Very thankful for the family I've help create. Very blessed to have the most special, handsome, very smart, and funny little boy. Excited to meet this next addition. What will he/she bring to the family besides more joy?

Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving.
With Much Love,

The Grimes Family

My Mister Personality

Dane turned our mini family photography session into The Dane Show. He was definitely Mr. Personality. I wonder if it's cause I prepped him for a couple days prior to the shoot, explaining that we were going to our neighbor Kathleen's house and there would be a photographer there to take pictures and that his friend Taylor was going to come and get her pictures taken too. For the last couple days I pretended to be 'the photorapher' and asked him to show me how he was going to smile and pose for her. Well, It worked. He ate the attention up.

Our friend Jen set this mini photography session up with Jessi Weithman from Everyday Studios out of Marysville. We gathered 5 friends and our families for a Holiday Mini Session with each family scheduled for 30 minutes. We also added onto the photo package with some single pictures of Dane. We hadn't had his pictures professionally taken since Summer 09'.

Here is a sneak-peek of one of Dane's photos that Jessi sent over. I'm more than thrilled! Not to toot our own horn here but this kid is SO PHOTOGENIC! My little child model :) We should have the other pictures in about a week, I can't wait!

We went out last night with friends to celebrate Brad's 30th birthday, which is this Tuesday. Wow, 30! We gathered 9 of us and headed to Dave and Busters. Seems appropriate, that's where we went to celebrate his 21st. So many things have changed in that 9 years. 9 years of marriage, 1 beautiful baby boy and another baby on the way. We had a great time! Eating, Drinking (well, except the 2 preggos) and being Merry.

Dane spent the night at his Aunt Randi's for the 1st time. Hope it went well. I miss him terribly this morning.......it's SO QUIET :(

The Outfit........

Danes says "Oh, I'm gonna ride my fourwheeler, better go upstairs and get warm clothes on!" 10-15 minutes later he returned with this outfit on. A pajama shirt, shorts, and baby-legs.

He was quite proud of his creativity and wanted to pose for photos.

Preggo Update: I'd like to send out a personal THANK YOU to pregnancy hormones for the giant pimple (cyst) on my face right before we get family pictures taken. That's just awesome! As if I don't feel unattractively bloated and gross as it is.

At least 2/3rds of the family is adorable as usual.

"Play" Birds

Brad got together with some of his friends to shoot clay birds.....aka "Play" birds if you're Dane. So after Dane's nap I took him over there so he could watch.

When they finished the box of clay birds it was on to shooting pumpkins.

After a few minutes Dane was bored of watching and kept himself entertained by playing in Brad's truck.

He was still alittle sick this day and I feel like you can see it in his eyes.

Thanks to Dane, both Brad and I came down with a mini cold shortly there after. It's not terrible, Brad has alittle congestion and a sore throat and I'm just alittle congested in the evening. I'm just glad it happened now and not next week for our trip to Indianapolis!

Brad had his 2nd procedure at the Dr. yesterday. It went well and the Dr. seemed optimistic that he'd gotten everything and we'll be done with this mess. Brad's feeling pretty good, just alittle sore today.

Preggo Update: 13 1/2 weeks. Still nauseous and exhausted. Hence the not posting anything for a week. That about sums it up.

Playdate

Dane had a playdate on Monday with a boy! He really needs some buddies that are boys. He plays all the time with his girl cousins and girl friends and lately Dane has been saying he wants to be a girl. Uh, That's alittle concerning and when asked Dane says he wants a baby sister. Huh, really?! Are you sure about that? I think it's just all he knows.

Anyway, A friend of mine from my college days moved back here from Florida. It's been years since I've seen her and she looks exactly the same! She came over on Monday with her little boy Dean and we had alittle playdate. I think they played pretty well together. We'll have to do it again sometime. It was good quality boy play without the mention of girls or being a princess :)

We took the playdate outside after awhile. It was a lovely sunny fall day with temperatures in the 60's. I wish it would stay like this. "sigh"

All you need for a good time is a few tractors and a big pile of dirt!

Dane has come down with a little cold. Bummer. I feel like he just had one not long ago! Where is he picking up these germs! Ugg. I hope I don't get it. He woke up today at 6:30am today and it was my day to sleep in alittle! Oh well. That's the life of a mom I guess. He's also a little clingy and whiny probably cause he's not feeling well.

What's new you ask? Brad's appointment to take more tissue is next week. I bet he passes out, he almost did last time. This should be very unpleasant, having a big hole dug out, both front and back. I would think it would be hard to get comfortable.

Preggo Update: 12 weeks and still nauseous. It lasted till 14 weeks with Dane, so hopefully I only have a few weeks left of this crap. I had another check-up. I find them annoying, can't I just come in if I have a question or I'm not feeling well? Anyways, it went pretty well. Dane came with me and we got to hear the heartbeat. I've only gained 2 1/2 lbs so far. I hope I can keep the weight down more this time, we'll see. I like my resisdent Dr. She's pretty laid back and the best part is she's alittle chunky!! Makes me feel better and I don't think she'll be on me about my weight and constantly lecturing me like that last Dr. was. HA! I love it :)

Oh Giggles :)

Brad and Dane getting ready to head outside and do some work. Dane was particularly excited and impressed when Brad whipped out a pair of overalls just like his to work in. Here's my boys. This definitely got some giggle outta me.

I like this picture better, stupid window ruined it. Though I should have thought better to take the photo there, my bad.

Anyways. Things are good here. I'm off work till Tuesday and I intent on taking full advantage of that by eating and napping when I want to. Dane has been a real good boy too, Sometimes when faced with staying home alone with him for days I want to run screaming in the other direction but he's been really fun the last few days. I think he's in a growing stage, he's been eating well, sleeping in and taking good long naps. That's awesome.

Tonight Dane is having a sleep over with his Momo and Papa Peterson. He's pretty excited about it and I'm going to try not to worry about him. He'll be fine, they take such good care of him. Brad and I are taking advantage of our free time and going out on a double date with friends, dinner and a movie. Should be fun. I haven't been out to the movies since Dane was about 1 month old. Then tomorrow we're going to head out in the morning and try to get some Christmas shopping started.

* Brad just got results back from the moles he had cut off. 2 of the 3 are melanoma. Non invasive though, which is great! We caught it just in time. He just has to go back in so they can go deeper and wider to make sure they get all the cancerous tissue. While not good news, it could be ALOT worse and I'm relieved. But seriously, How can 1 person have so much cancerous skin?

Fall

Fall Fun

PREGGO UPDATE:
Dear Ritz Crackers~
You have betrayed me. For the last week you've no longer been what I thought you were. You've really let me down and I'm writing to say......I'm moving on.
Sincerely ~ Casey Head In The Toilet Grimes

I'm 11 weeks pregnant today and desperately awaiting reprieve from the nausea. Today was not a good day. I'm not taking my prenatal vitamins daily, somedays I can't even stand the smell of them let alone actually put them in my mouth. I hope my baby turns out ok. Speaking of, I better go try to gag one down................wish me luck.

What a Cutie Patootie!

These were taken on the way to the pumpkin patch a couple weeks ago. He really likes to listen to Brad's work earphones and just looks so cute doing so.

And then because he's such a little charmer......he gives me a wink :)

On another note, PREGGO UPDATE: I HEART Ritz crackers, I keep them in the bathroom now. I'd sleep with them if I could but the package is too crinkly and noisy. I eat 4 or 5 of them ASAP in the morning as I'm showering and dressing for the day and it has helped me a ton. Thank god. The trick for now is to not let my stomach get empty, So every few hours I have to eat alittle something so I don't get nauseous.

Thursday night is Zanesfields Trick or Treat night. Dane's real excited. It starts at 6, it's gonna be a real rush to pick up Dane after work, feed him, dress him and be there by then. It's gonna be SO COLD too. Good thing his cosume is a toasty one. Not even sure Brad's gonna be able to make it, he doesn't even get off work till 6.

The Peanut

The ultrasound went good today. Just one baby in there, and with our family history it could have gone another way. Everything looks good and they kept the due date the same....The last week in May. The next ultrasound should be sometime around Christmas :)

Brad had 3 moles taken off a couple weeks ago and his appointment to get the stitches out was after the ultrasound. That went smoothly as well, until they realized they hadn't gotten the results back from the pathology lab yet. Brad was instantly suspicious. They called him later today with the news that they had sent his specimens to a pathology specialist so it was going to take a few more days. A pathology specialist?!........Uh Oh! Brad is already freaking out and I'm trying to play it cool but I'm secretly worried about it too. I mean how often does that happen to the same person twice?! But this is why he keeps up with these things.
Keep us in your thoughts.

Preggo Update: I'm feeling better about this pregnancy and the hopes that I could be having another boy. Morning sickness has progressed some, I puked again this morning. Errr. Make that 2x today as of 6:30pm. I can't get something to eat fast enough in the morning anymore to subdue the nausea. I have been feeling better throughout the day though which is really similar to how I was pregnant with Dane. Fingers crossed ;)
