Quick-N-Easy

A quick and easy running really low on groceries breakfast.
Mini Spinach Bacon Quiches
1 rolled pie crust
1/4 frozen spinach
1 egg
1 egg yolk
3 oz cream cheese-soften
1TBS diced onion
1/4 C crumbled bacon
salt/pepper to taste

1. Cut pie crust into 10 3 inch round pieces and place in greased muffin tins
2. Mix together following ingredients and pour into crust
3. 425 degree oven for 12 minutes.

Really was very quick and super tasty. Brad ate 6 of them!

Preggo Update: 28 weeks! Just entered the final trimester, another milestone. In my opinion, looking VERY pregnant now. I had my first experience with edema this weekend (Never had that with Dane) After an exhausting trip to Chicago, sitting through 6 hours of lecture and tons of walking I returned home at 1am to find that my legs, knees to toes were approximately the same size!! A definite case of elephantitis. (AHHHHH!!!! Cue my instant panic) I spent the next day resting with my feet up and thankfully they have returned to normal.

What A Life

The life of a cat with a 3 year old boy as her Master.
This totally makes me giggle alittle. Silly cat.

Really?!

Dane just being silly.

* So for the last week I've had a sore under my tongue. I never really bothered to look, figured it was just a little ulcer that hurt when it rubbed across my teeth. Well, I was wrong! Checked it out in the mirror at work this week and its a lump. So I decided to have the Doc check it out and guess what...........It's a pregnancy tumor!

I mean really?! It only happens in 1% of pregnant women so of course it would happen to me! It's kinda just a freak thing that happens. Say if I would have bitten my tongue or had it scrap across something or stabbed by a chip or something (none of which I remember occurring) Anyways, We'll just watch it preferring to remove it after the baby is born or it could just go away on it's own.

On a good note, I'm not sick anymore! My conclusion to the Neti-Pot test is that IT WORKS! I did it morning and night at the 1st sign of feeling alittle snotty and I'm better :) and guess who doesn't like the Neti-Pot and who is still sick............Brad!

Ewww, Wax!

While at the Au Natural store in Bellefontaine to pick up some Prenatal Vitamins Brad requested I also pick up some ear wax candles. We haven't done that in years. It's amazing how much wax those little candles will pull out of your ears! After witnessing Brad and I do this, Dane begged to have his done. In true boy fashion, being fascinated with all things disgusting, he LOVED checking our candles when we we're done to see how much wax came out. Now I realize that some ear wax can be a good thing and that perhaps it's not a good thing to do on a child but I did it anyway.

The truly amazing part of this story is the amount of wax that come out of Dane's little ears! Way more than Brad or I! He didn't even sit for the whole candle, just for maybe 5 minutes worth. The only thing I can figure is that those child safety q-tips can only go in so far (hence the "safety" of them) and therefore aren't getting as much wax out as our adult versions.

* 26 weeks. Why?! Why?! Why have I come down with another cold?! Uggg! Brad has it too! We were only healthy for 2 weeks before this one struck. Seriously? Come on! It's not like I need any help NOT sleeping!
Testing the Neti Pot theory by starting to use it as soon I felt alittle funny. Hope it works to cut down the longevity and severity of the cold. We'll see. At least maybe it'll prevent it from turning into another sinus infection. I finally talked Brad into trying it last night. Talk about funny! I thought he was going to throw up. Ha!

Happy Valentine's Day

"Have I told you lately that I love you? Have I told you there's no one else above you?"

"You fill my heart with gladness, take away all my sadness, ease my troubles, that's what you do"

"There's a love that's devine, and it's yours and it's mine, like the sun and at the end of the day, I sit down and pray to the one, to the one."

(I've been singing that song to Dane since the day he was born)

In Loving Memory

Zoey was the cutest puppy I'd ever seen! We picked her up from Bellefontaine's Humane Society on June 5th 2002. She was found running loose in a field around Indian Lake and someone brought her in. She was, they guessed around 12 weeks old. She was spunky and fiery running back and forth in the kennel and biting the tip of my nose when I sat down to play with her but I just had to have her! She had me at hello.

This was taken that same day.

She was our first baby. The first dog we'd raised from a puppy.
Our first family photo.

Spring 2005. In our new home.

Feb 2010.
Her left ear never did stand fully upright which I think added to her charm.

She was a great dog. She never chewed up our stuff. She protected the property alerting us to intruders human and animal. She was smart and we loved her and she loved us. She didn't derseve to suffer, she should have grown old and died in her sleep. That's what she deserved. Instead the cancer moved in fast, she was in pain and we had to put her down. She was ready to go, you could see that in her eyes. Regardless, it hurts to have her go.

I cry for Dane. His first loss. He wants to know if god is done playing with her yet and if she's coming home soon. It's so hard to explain. To see his little eyes well up with tears and tell me that he doesn't want her to be dead is heartbreaking!

In the stillness of the night and mornings I still cry, my mind is so full of memories.

Sledding/Birthdays

We gathered Saturday mid-morning to sled with the family and celebrate the birthdays of Mariana and Stacey. Most of the adults stayed inside this time (including myself) but Brad, Randi and John went out to help with the littles. Plus, the always helpful Mari and Kelvin.

That nice thick layer of ice that we got last week made for some REALLY fast sledding!

Randi & Dane with the mini snowman they built.

Happy 12th birthday to my wonderful niece Mari! Isn't she beautiful?!
Love her to pieces, she's just growing up too fast!

Makin' Room

The first thing I did was carry the cradle upstairs to our bedroom from the basement. Got it all assembled and cleaned up. Then I went through Dane's infant tub that I had stored away and pulled out all gender neutral blankets and baby essentials. Brad's grandma and grandpa Grimes bought us this before we were even expecting Dane with the hopes of future great-grandbabies. It's special to me, reminds me of his grandpa who's since passed on.

Next, We went on a little girl shopping spree and bought some cute things. Still could use some sleep sacks (loved those with Dane), onesies, sleepers, burp clothes, etc. I also would like a baby sling. I have an infant carrier but I think it would be nice to have a sling that I could carry the baby around in and nurse her at the same time.

I cleaned out Dane's closet, weeding out too small stuff and making a new tote of stuff to take to the basement.

Then I cleaned out our closet, taking 2+ bags of stuff to the good will.

Next, We headed to the Carpet Gallery and bought a 12x12 carpet remnant so we could make a playroom in the basement. Our 1st floor was just overwhelmed with Dane's toys! No room to set up the pack-n-play or baby swing, etc.

I'm feeling slightly neurotic. I realize she's not due till May but I'm a planner. I like to have all my ducks in a row way earlier than necessary. I like to be ready, I'm way early for everything.

* I skipped my 24 week appointment. I'm slightly annoyed with all these appointments. I'm fine. Can't I just come in if I have a question or aren't feeling well?! I find it a gigantic waste of time (except hearing the heartbeat, which is always fun) Here's how every appointment goes

- weigh in
-blood pressure (always good)
-feeling ok? (yup)
-any questions? (nope)
-listen to heartbeat
- ok, see you in 4 weeks

I get really annoyed when it starts going to every 2weeks, I might try to talk them into pushing it back some. I'm having a completly normal, uncomplicated pregnancy so I don't see why not.

But don't worry, I'm scheduled for a 26 week appointment.
