Big Boy Room

When we added on our Master Suite addition the roof line affected Dane's bedroom window. So we had to take out the old one and put in a smaller crank out style window. We also replaced the other window because it had started to rot. So for the last 6months Dane has had torn up drywall with heavy blankets covering the windows. It was awful.

Neil finally made it over to insulate and fix the dry wall. I got it painted and now he can cone back to hang up the window trim.

I let Dane choose out new bedding. He chose Camo (gag, few things I hate worse than camo).  I tried to steer him in a direction of less gaggy camo (is there such a thing?). Then he choose Orange as his accent color and I chose to do big fat horizontal stripes. It turned out pretty cute!

The bedding hasn't arrived yet but this is what it looks like.

We framed this pic of Dane and Papa squirrel hunting.

Uncle Morgan saud Dane could have some of his deer antlers to hang. I think I
it will turn out quite cute......for a camo bedroom.

So Many Blessings

These people are what it's all about! My family. Growing quite large these days. New additions this year are the Obi (born in May) and Kelsey (not new but getting married into the family this coming summer).
Aren't they some stinkin' cute people!?

Another doll. This is one she's been asking Santa for. Complete with the pig tails she wanted.

Her baby monkey. Adorably creepy and realistic.

Here's a few video's from Christmas morning.
Not the best but you can get the feel for how excited they were.

Holiday Bliss

A few more of our cookie making.

It's becoming a bit of a problem. Once again Olive gets banished from a holiday project because she can't seem to stop eating sugar. In this case massive amounts of cookie bits, icing and sprinkles. When I was distracted by Dane she snuck under the table with a cookie.

Then it 'Twas the night before Christmas'.
 Complete with matching Christmas PJ's.

Christmas Vacation

We're officially on break. No work for us and no school for Dane. I'm so excited to spend this time with my family and friends.

We started right off with making a gingerbread house. It turned out adorable but we had to banish Olive from the job. She wouldn't stop packing her cheeks full of candy.

Today we headed out early. Brad wanted to take Dane to the 3D viewing of a movie called Walking With Dinosaurs. Olive and I dropped the boys off and we went to a few stores to finish our Christmas shopping. I'm officially DONE! I still need to wrap. I should be doing that now but I'm kinda tired and my belly hurts (I think I ate too much at lunch). So, the kids are napping and I'm going to finish this and just vegetate in the silence.

Inclement Weather Day

Today Dane had another delay which then turned into a cancellation. Our weather for December has been cruddier than usually and it seems he's out of school or having a delay weekly. At this pace he'll be in school most of June. I do hate snow, however it has been pretty to look at from the inside looking out.

No work for me today. I've had a fire going, laundry and dishes done, dinner in the crock pot (pot roast) and we squeezed in a wintery craft project. Paper snow flakes! The kids loved them and want me to help them make more after nap. I think they are picturing that seen from ELF were he decorates their apartment like a wintery wonderland.

Now the kids are napping and I'm going to head down to the dreadmill. Running outside is so much more fun. i am lucky to have a treadmill though. My winter training would suffer without one. My problem being that i sometimes get bored on the treadmill and dont run as far. My long runs arent that long anymore but i managed to do 5.3 yesterday while watching The Walking Dead on Netflix.

Have a lovely week. It's Dane and my last week before being off for 2 weeks for the holidays. I can't wait!

Christmas Light Night

We are scheduled to get a snow storm this weekend so since it was some what warm last night at 32º and O was starting to feel better we decided to head out to see the Christmas lights at the zoo.

I guess Olive LOVED the turtles. She laid right down on the floor to gaze at them.

It's snowy like crazy today and tonight we have my office Christmas party.it never fails. We get a snow storm every year on the day of our office party. Thankfully we started having it someplace local and no longer have to drive into Columbus.

A Birthday Boy

Today is Dane's 6th birthday! Can't believe he's 6 already. This year he requested a dirtbike cake so I scanned Pinterst and found a few that I thought I could tackle. Here's the result. Pretty cool if I do say so myself.  It was a yummy peanut butter cake with chocolate frosting.

He woke up that morning super early and picked out his a birthday outfit all on his own.

The party was a great success and we had a ton of fun!

Today I took off work to care for my poor baby Olive who is still sick. Since I've posted last she's gotten worse and I've had her at Urgent Care. That evening didn't go well. She proceeded to scream and cry the entire time and I had to hold her down for the nurses to do a flu and strept test. Those came back Negative but because of her continued fever and large swollen tonsils covered in white spots the Dr decided to call in an antibiotic anyway. I'm hoping it works. Poor thing is coughing so hard it's causing her to vomit up mucus.

She's a fussy needy whiney mess with snot dripping down her face and I'll feel so bad for her. So we're doing a lot of cuddling and nose wiping and praying that she feels better soon.

Today, We're working on setting up the Christmas tree. She's helping.  You don't think this is too many Candy Canes for one area do ya? Hahaha

On The Bench

I'm on the bench. Bronchitis took me down. A TKO. Or rather its the lack of sleep that's brought me down. I'm up coughing till the wee hours of the morning. Ugg. My poor baby O is sick with the same symptoms too plus a fever. I hate to see her suffer. My house is a germy mess and I need to whip it into shape for Dane's birthday party this weekend.

Keep us in your thoughts and wish for a speedy revovery.

Ho Ho Ho.... (hack!)

Ugg. I have a cough. A lovely gift from husband and children. It's the gift that keeps giving. I was up all night and even though I was in a Nyquil daze I didn't sleep much. Strangely I woke up feeling pretty good. Still coughing but feeling fine so I went on my standard long weekend run. I ran 7 miles today! I'm proud of it. It's my longest distance so far. I also kept my fastest pace at distance runs at 10.01 min per mile.

I added in the cemetary today. Loved the view of the pasture and snow covered mountain. I think I'll do that again.

We ditched the kids this afternoon for some Christmas shopping. Brads in Cabelas right now. Snooze fest. I hate that store so I'm sitting in the car. We're not out without the kids too much so this needs to be productive. I'm terrible at making decisions.
Also, I picked up some last minute supplies for Dane's birthday extraveganza. Stayed tuned for pics of that good fun.

Happy Thanksgiving + Pumpkin Dash

Happy Thanksgiving. May you be surrounded by people who love you and enjoy a full belly of delicious holiday food. We've had a truely blessed day. Starting with a very brisk Pumpkin Dash in Uptown Marysville follwed by a super yummy lunch with Brads family. Topping it off we even squeezed in a nap!!!!  Few things I cherish more as a mother of 2 young children than putting housework aside and taking a nap right along with them.

Thankful for so much. Family and good health top the list.

Thankful for Kelsey asking me to run her first 5k with her and for several other family members who also agreed to brave the cold. It was 24º this morning.

From left. My nieces Mari and Cat, their friend Claire, Kelsey, Me, Morgan and Ryan.

My hygiene partner at the office. We've been friends since hygiene school and have been lucky enough to work together for the last 8 1/2 years. I roped into this 5k too. We've been running on our lunch breaks. Thankful for good friends.

Marna also talked her daughter Into running as well.

Yes. I am holding a pumpkin pie. It was my prize for finishing. Yum!

Results from the race. I placed 267 out of 630 people.  Not too bad. I ran my fastest 5k. Finished in 27:35 minutes. Sweet! Worked out to be a 9:08 pace!! Nice to see all my hard work pay off in faster times.

In my age group Women 30-39- I placed 39th out of 94!!

Life & Going The Distance

Happy 12th Anniversary to my husband! We secured a babysitter for last night so Brad and I could celebrate. I assumed we were just going to do some shopping and head to dinner but he surprised me with a couples massage at LaVida. I was divine. With the physical stresses of my job and current running schedule I really needed it. Then we headed to dinner at Cap City Diner. It's been a favorite of ours for years but it's location is not super friendly (as in far and out of the way) so we don't go very often. Maybe 1x a year. We had a few drinks and enjoyed our dinner without wrestling children.  Brad had the meatloaf which is his personal favorite (it IS super good) and I tried something new, a Thai Steak Salad. It was served on Udon noodles which I thought was a wise carb loading choice since Sunday mornings are my "long" runs.

After dinner we walked it off at the mall and then stopped at Jeni's ice cream before heading home.

My husband as been so supportive of my running. He stayed with the kids this morning so I could go on my long run. I felt I had something to prove. I was set out last Sunday to break the walls of my last 6.1 mile run and fell short at 5.5miles. The whole run was a struggle. I believe I may have been tired (Dane was up the night before with diarrhea several times) and I didn't properly fuel for breakfast. I'd only had a cup of coffee and a piece of dry toast.  My runs all last week felt like that. I had lost confidence and wasn't feeling it.

So, This morning the kids actually slept in (7am). I drank a lot of water yesterday. Properly fueled with a light breakfast approx. 90 minutes before and headed out to spank Zanesfield's rear. HaHa.

It was a little slower than my last 6 miler but it was crazy windy so I'll blame it on that.

I'm currently busy planning Dane's birthday party.  He's requesting a dirt bike theme. Supplies and invites have been ordered. Now I'm trying to plan for the cake. I'm thinking of a peanut butter/chocolate flavor profile.

Maybe something like this.

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything. I'll try to be better.

Have a great week!

Trick or Treat

The cousins met up at our house first for a little pizza party. Gotta fuel up for trick or treat.

Then they all suited up in costume.
Olive's first glimpse of herself as Lalaloopsy Dyna Might!

Seriously, it's about the cutest thing I've EVER seen! She rocked the LaLaloopsy costume.

Before we left I gathered them all for a group picture. From left to right we have Mermaid Claire, Tooth Fairy Elise, Lalaloopsy Olive, Sheriff Dane and Dino Zeke.

Happy Halloween and Other Things

The result of my before mentioned cookie making for the Zanesfield Soccer Team party.  Chocolate Oatmeal Sandwich Cookies with Pumpkin Buttercream Icing. They were a huge success!

Dane greets me after getting off the bus like this..... Spooky!

Olive is still cute and sweet and a tad dramatic.

It's been a crazy week. Nothing has gone quite as planned. Last night was suppose to be trick or treat night. Mother nature had other plans and decided to unlease rain and a crazy crazy wind storm. We even had tornado warnings late last night. Thankfully, unlike other towns our trick or treat was rescheduled for Sat night when the weather won't be quite as scary.  That's the 2nd time this week my kids were suppose to get into costume and have fun and it hasn't happened :(  Come hell or high water we're getting those kids into costumes and going trick or treating!!

Map My Run:   Still going strong. The previously mentioned Academy Challege is complete. All four levels and I've earned another "badge" for my Map My Run wall.  This challenge was fairly easy compared to the Merrell Run one but I'm signing up for every challenge I can. I find that it helps by giving me goals and when I don't actually feel like running I feel like I have to get my points or badges or whatever.

October ended like this.....

Total Miles Ran-  67.67
Total Hours Ran-  12.19
Total Calories Burnt- 6,874

Highest Weekly Mileage- 17.7

Highest Mileage in 1 run- 5.52

November's Challenge is .....

Basically you earn 10 points every day that you log at least 30 minutes of activity. If you earn 100 points your entered to win prizes.

A Sweet 16

We had a party for my eldest niece Cat who turned sweet 16. Isn't she gorgeous!

Momo & Obi

I have this week off work. Fantastic! Today was apparently super foggy and Dane's school got put on a 2 hour and then 3 hour delay. I decided it would be fun to take them to Bob Evan's for breakfast  since we had extra time and I could even run an errand and be back for the bus to pick him up at 10:30.  While sitting at breakfast the school called and had decided to cancel for the day........Um. I drove all the way to town and didn't even see fog and that was at 8:45am so I'm pretty sure the teachers just wanted a day off ;)  But anyway. I guess I get to enjoy both my babies today. However, the word 'enjoy' might be a slight stretch since they've done nothing but bicker all day.  Hoping the get up on the right side of the bed from nap and suddenly decide to share and play nice. Fingers crossed.

Tonight is the soccer party and I'm thinking I might stop this blogging thing to get up and make these for the soccer team

YUM!
(ok so maybe I'm actually making them for me) I better make a double batch ;)
