Happy Thanksgiving + Pumpkin Dash

Happy Thanksgiving. May you be surrounded by people who love you and enjoy a full belly of delicious holiday food. We've had a truely blessed day. Starting with a very brisk Pumpkin Dash in Uptown Marysville follwed by a super yummy lunch with Brads family. Topping it off we even squeezed in a nap!!!!  Few things I cherish more as a mother of 2 young children than putting housework aside and taking a nap right along with them.

Thankful for so much. Family and good health top the list.

Thankful for Kelsey asking me to run her first 5k with her and for several other family members who also agreed to brave the cold. It was 24ยบ this morning.

From left. My nieces Mari and Cat, their friend Claire, Kelsey, Me, Morgan and Ryan.

My hygiene partner at the office. We've been friends since hygiene school and have been lucky enough to work together for the last 8 1/2 years. I roped into this 5k too. We've been running on our lunch breaks. Thankful for good friends.

Marna also talked her daughter Into running as well.

Yes. I am holding a pumpkin pie. It was my prize for finishing. Yum!

Results from the race. I placed 267 out of 630 people.  Not too bad. I ran my fastest 5k. Finished in 27:35 minutes. Sweet! Worked out to be a 9:08 pace!! Nice to see all my hard work pay off in faster times.

In my age group Women 30-39- I placed 39th out of 94!!

Life & Going The Distance

Happy 12th Anniversary to my husband! We secured a babysitter for last night so Brad and I could celebrate. I assumed we were just going to do some shopping and head to dinner but he surprised me with a couples massage at LaVida. I was divine. With the physical stresses of my job and current running schedule I really needed it. Then we headed to dinner at Cap City Diner. It's been a favorite of ours for years but it's location is not super friendly (as in far and out of the way) so we don't go very often. Maybe 1x a year. We had a few drinks and enjoyed our dinner without wrestling children.  Brad had the meatloaf which is his personal favorite (it IS super good) and I tried something new, a Thai Steak Salad. It was served on Udon noodles which I thought was a wise carb loading choice since Sunday mornings are my "long" runs.

After dinner we walked it off at the mall and then stopped at Jeni's ice cream before heading home.

My husband as been so supportive of my running. He stayed with the kids this morning so I could go on my long run. I felt I had something to prove. I was set out last Sunday to break the walls of my last 6.1 mile run and fell short at 5.5miles. The whole run was a struggle. I believe I may have been tired (Dane was up the night before with diarrhea several times) and I didn't properly fuel for breakfast. I'd only had a cup of coffee and a piece of dry toast.  My runs all last week felt like that. I had lost confidence and wasn't feeling it.

So, This morning the kids actually slept in (7am). I drank a lot of water yesterday. Properly fueled with a light breakfast approx. 90 minutes before and headed out to spank Zanesfield's rear. HaHa.

It was a little slower than my last 6 miler but it was crazy windy so I'll blame it on that.

 Ran 6.51 mi on 11/17/2013

I'm currently busy planning Dane's birthday party.  He's requesting a dirt bike theme. Supplies and invites have been ordered. Now I'm trying to plan for the cake. I'm thinking of a peanut butter/chocolate flavor profile.

Maybe something like this.

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything. I'll try to be better.

Have a great week!

Trick or Treat

The cousins met up at our house first for a little pizza party. Gotta fuel up for trick or treat.

Dane & Elise

Olive & Claire

Then they all suited up in costume.
Olive's first glimpse of herself as Lalaloopsy Dyna Might!

Seriously, it's about the cutest thing I've EVER seen! She rocked the LaLaloopsy costume.

Before we left I gathered them all for a group picture. From left to right we have Mermaid Claire, Tooth Fairy Elise, Lalaloopsy Olive, Sheriff Dane and Dino Zeke.

Olive's 1st stop.

Even super hero dolls need to stop and rest for a minute.

Family pic.

Met up for a bit with some friends too.
Spiderman Joe and Dark Angel Sami.

Of course neighbor Madi too.

Happy Halloween and Other Things

The result of my before mentioned cookie making for the Zanesfield Soccer Team party.  Chocolate Oatmeal Sandwich Cookies with Pumpkin Buttercream Icing. They were a huge success!

Dane greets me after getting off the bus like this..... Spooky!

Olive is still cute and sweet and a tad dramatic.

It's been a crazy week. Nothing has gone quite as planned. Last night was suppose to be trick or treat night. Mother nature had other plans and decided to unlease rain and a crazy crazy wind storm. We even had tornado warnings late last night. Thankfully, unlike other towns our trick or treat was rescheduled for Sat night when the weather won't be quite as scary.  That's the 2nd time this week my kids were suppose to get into costume and have fun and it hasn't happened :(  Come hell or high water we're getting those kids into costumes and going trick or treating!!

Map My Run:   Still going strong. The previously mentioned Academy Challege is complete. All four levels and I've earned another "badge" for my Map My Run wall.  This challenge was fairly easy compared to the Merrell Run one but I'm signing up for every challenge I can. I find that it helps by giving me goals and when I don't actually feel like running I feel like I have to get my points or badges or whatever.

October ended like this.....

Total Miles Ran-  67.67
Total Hours Ran-  12.19
Total Calories Burnt- 6,874

Highest Weekly Mileage- 17.7
