It's Wedding Weekend!

This is what Olive looks like 75% of the time.

It's my baby brothers wedding weekend and i had alot to do around the house so i gave Brad a choice....fold the laundry or paint Olive's toenails. I thought for sure he'd choose laundry he didn't and then I couldn't resist a picture of the cuteness.

Olive was so thrilled. He did a good job too!

We had the rehearsal last night. I had to fill in for a bridesmaid that couldn't make it so i don't have any pictures to share but it went GREAT!

First Day of 1st Grade

Dane's first day was yesterday. It went pretty smoothly besides the minor disagreement about him wanting to wear pants.

He came home excited and love it.

Busy weekend ahead as my baby brother is getting married and the kids are in the wedding. We're so excited, they are gonna look so cute!

Boss Summer Fun Run 10k Recap

Last year at this race I did the 2.4 miler. It was my first race. This year I chose the 10k (6.2miles) and even PR'd it from my last 10k by almost 6 minutes! I'd say I've come a long way in just a year and I'm proud of that. There definitely is room for improvement too because I did stop to walk through a water stop so I know it can be done faster.

Thanks for the great picture Brad. This was mile 6. Almost finished. Brad and Olive were my cheer leaders since Dane was gone at a sleepover with a buddy.

The below splits/pace aren't totally official because I forgot to shut my tracker off when I finished. Finish time was somewhere around 57 minutes.

Baseball Is Out: Soccer Is In!

The kids had a great fall ball season. Dane learned alot and even though it was a lot of extra running around and it's my least favorite sport I'm really glad we did it. Baseball might even be growing on me.....say what!?

We had our 1st soccer practice last night and true to the season of soccer it was chilly and drizzling rain. It was fun though. The majority of these kids already have played together or knew each other from Kindergarten. I think it'll be a great season.

Just Some Summer Craziness

Last night we were invited to our friends house for a before school starts party. There was a ton of great food and the kids tye dyed shirts. I'd never done this with them before and they loved it. I hope we make this a pre school starting tradition. The adults all sat around goofing off, talking, drinking beer and the kids all ran a muck. It was good fun. We stayed late and had a campfire/smore thing going on too.

Here they are modeling their new shirts. The LOVE them!

And then we had a hilly billy surf off. These are 2 of my friends from high school. Jen ended up falling off so I think she lost.

Sunday morning long run. Only 70 degrees but 85% humidity. I am not much of a summer runner. This humidity kills me. However, There is approx 70 some days before the half marathon. I HAVE to get my long runs in.

I did it. It wasn't pretty. I had to stop 3x for water. In the winter I could run 9 straight miles without stopping for water once.

And now this icing business it becoming a trend. Just being proactive. This isn't a new injury or anything I've been ignoring it for approx 6-7 months. I know, stupid. It only bothers me after longer runs so I thought I'd see if icing it helps. If it continues ill get it looked at after the half.

Fair Days

We met up with friends Sunday for our annual trip to the Urbana fair. It was a beautiful day and Olive was finally big enough to try some rides. She loved it!

*Tackled 5.25 miles this morning while it was still cool out. Should have been closer to 8 miles. Felt ok. Just a touch sore in the quad but better than the day before. i just decided to not risk it and let it heal up. I'll keep lower miles this week and hit it hard next week.

A Count Down of Another Sort

This. Just because that's exactly how I feel.

Anyway. Back to the 'countdown of another sort'.....my first half marathon!!  Its less than 3 months away and time to get serious about upping the mileage on my weekend long runs. Tomorrows goal was 8 but I may need to reevaluate that since as I sit here typing I have a frozen bag of veggies on my left quad.

The most frustrating part is that i pulled it yesterday leaving work. All I did was take a big step down quickly. Must have been in a hurry to get the heck outta there. Ha! I felt it instantly and massaged it all the way home. I'd pretty much forgotten about it till i took off on a run this morning. With hopes to get in a quick 4 miles i capped it off at 2. My pace was pretty darn quick which I'm proud of but it was hurting everytime i lifted my leg forward.

So, here I am. I foam rolled. I'm icing and later I'm going to rub some Deep Blue into it. Hopefully tomorrow i can get more miles in by slowing my pace down. If not i might just rest it some. Stupid step.
